ReportZen vs. Google's Salesforce Connector (formerly Data Connector for Salesforce)
Both are add-ons that load Salesforce reports into Google Sheets. The main difference is reports over 2,000 rows. Google does not publish a row limit for its Salesforce Connector[1], but users keep reporting that report imports over 2,000 rows stop or fail[3][4]. ReportZen fetches the report in 2,000-row pages and writes every row. Google's connector, on the other hand, can write data back to Salesforce, import with SOQL, and refresh every 4 or 8 hours, which ReportZen cannot.
Comparison
The Google column is based on Google's help page[1], its Marketplace listing[2] and user reports.
| Salesforce Connector (Google) | ReportZen | |
|---|---|---|
| Reports over 2,000 rows | No limit stated in help. Users report "only headers imported" or failed imports over 2,000 rows[3][4] | All rows, fetched 2,000 at a time (license). Up to 2,000 rows without a license |
| Use a report as-is | Yes. Also query builder / SOQL, or up to 5 source objects[1] | Yes, no SOQL. Tabular reports only (no summary or matrix); needs a record ID column |
| Auto refresh | Every 4, 8 or 24 hours[1] | Once a day, every morning (license). Refreshes multiple reports together |
| Write back to Salesforce | Yes (insert / update)[1] | No (read-only) |
| UI language | Not checked for this page | English and Japanese (follows the spreadsheet locale) |
| Setup | Install from Marketplace; each user signs in with Salesforce username and password[1] | Install from Marketplace; a Salesforce admin creates one connected app and you enter its keys (guide). CSV import needs no permissions |
| Whose access is used | The signed-in user | The "run as" user the admin assigns to the connected app[5] |
| Step-up authentication (from July 2026) | Users report imports over 2,000 rows failing on a pending identity verification[4] | Server-to-server connection (client credentials flow) and the Reports API. Not yet tested in a paid org (details) |
| Cost | Free | Free to install; full export and auto refresh need a license |
Which one to use
- Reports under 2,000 rows, or you need write-back or SOQL: Google's Salesforce Connector is enough.
- Reports over 2,000 rows, kept in report form, refreshed daily: ReportZen fits.
- Your admin cannot create a connected app: Use Google's connector, or ReportZen's CSV import (drag and drop an exported CSV).
Where the 2,000-row limit applies: Why Salesforce reports stop at 2,000 rows, and how to get all rows.
What ReportZen does
- Loads a Salesforce report into Google Sheets as it is, no SOQL
- Pages through the report 2,000 rows at a time to get every row (license)
- Refreshes once a day, every morning (license)
- Free to install. Fetches up to 2,000 rows and CSV import work without a license
A Salesforce admin needs to create one connected app first (setup guide).
